Liam and Allison turn to head towards the house. I know that I should
follow them, but damn it I’m holding her and I don’t want to let go. She stands
still in my arms not trying to break our connection. My right arm is still draped
across her waist holding her tight against my chest. I gently grip her left hip and
turn her to face me. She’s staring straight at my chest, not meeting my eyes. I
gently lift her chin with my index finger. Fuck she is so beautiful. What if
something would have happened to her today? I can feel the anger trying to
resurface. I take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Hailey is silently watching me
now. I lean down and rest my forehead against hers and close my eyes. Both of
my hands find her hips. I’m going to take every advantage to touch her that I can.
“I was worried about you, angel.” I tell her honestly. Well as honest as I can
“Aiden, we were fine. Those guys were just being friendly.”
“You don’t know them. Hell, they could have taken you both and did god
only knows what to you.” I swallow back the emotion of just the thought of her
“I’m not yours to worry about.” She whispers.
And there it is the knife that is twisting in my chest. She’s right, I know it
and she knows it, but fuck if I like it.
I pull back and bring both of my hands to her cheeks. “Angel, I care about
you. You may not be mine, but I will never let anything happen to you. Do you
understand that?” I ask her. I really need her to know how special she is.
“One big brother is enough, Aiden. You don’t have to feel obligated to
“Who said I wanted to be your big brother?” I ask trying to keep my voice
calm. This is truly a daunting feat with all of the rage boiling inside me. She
thinks I want to be her big brother? Fuck that!
“Don’t you? Why else would you go all alpha Aiden and try to keep me
from them?” she asks me.
I watch her closely as she waits for my answer. This beautiful girl has no
idea the war I have fought these past few months. She has no idea how she affects
me, how much I want her. This is killing me. Wanting something this much,
something that I can’t have. She licks her lips and now all I can think about is
tasting her. I don’t even realize that I’m going to do it until our lips meet and I’m
consumed with her sweetness. Lips of an angel, I tell you.
I move one hand behind her neck and the other is holding her cheek. I angle
her head back and deepen the kiss. Hailey opens her mouth and I take full
advantage to slide my tongue in and hers immediately duals with mine. She
moans and my desire is fueled. I can’t get her close enough, can’t get enough
period. Hailey slows the kiss and pulls her lips from mine. I tug her into a tight
“I need for you to always be safe. Not because I feel like your older brother,
but because you are important to me. I couldn’t handle it if something happened to
I feel her nod against my chest. “Let’s go, they’re going to wonder where
we are.” I whisper in her ear.
She slowly pulls away from me. “Thank you, Aiden.” With that she turns
and heads back to the beach house.
I stand there and watch my heart walk away from me. I place my hand over
my heart and rub the ache that is throbbing in my chest. No girl will ever mean to
me what Hailey MacCoy does.

“Ally baby please. I fucked up but please, I can do better. Please forgive me.” He
“Marco, there is nothing between us anymore. I’m done. We are done. Shouldn’t
you be off with Trish somewhere?” Her name was like bile in my mouth.
“Ally it’s not like that with her, I was just scared.” I raised my hand to stop him; I
didn’t want to go through this with him all over again.
“Stop. Just Stop. There is nothing between us anymore Marco, please just leave.” I
swallowed back any tears that were threating to show. Stepping back I closed the
door and leaned my back on it, slowly sliding down to the ground. Inhaling deep
I tried to calm my nerves and heard the flower arrangement being placed on the
ground as Marco spoke.
“I know you can still hear me Ally, and I want you to know that I’ll never give up
on us. Never! You hear me? I fucked up. I know I did but I love you.” As the tears
dripped from my eyes I wiped them away as quickly as I could. I wasn’t crying
because I was sad. I was just so tired of repeating the past five years in my head and
seeing it end like this.
“Marco, please just leave me alone.” I shouted from behind the door
“I’ll always fight for you. I’ll find a way to make you mine again. Mark my words
Alani, you will spend the rest of your life with me.”
Crawling into bed with my phone in hand, I dialed Ryan. He answered on the first
ring. “Hello beautiful.” His sexy voice came through the phone and made me smile.
“Hi.” I whispered back. I missed him so much that it scared me. I hadn’t seen him
fifty some hours prior and it felt like years.
“I miss you Bug. When are you coming home?”
Home? I was home. Right? “I am home.” I replied because it was the truth, this was
home for me.
“Nope you belong here with me, this is your home.” He said, with a seductive voice
that made my toes curled.
I bit my lip, holding my breath. I loved this man. He had me captured in his spell. My
fragile heart was wrapped around his fingers.
“Don’t do that.” I couldn’t let him keep saying things like that without giving him full
“Don’t do what?” I heard a touch of curiosity in his voice.
“Don’t sweep me off my feet if you’re not going to be there to catch me.” After the
words were out of my mouth I closed my eyes and waited for his response. The
seconds feel like hours.
“I’ll be there to catch you. I’ll never hurt you.” Exhaling the breath that apparently
held my fears, I brought my phone closer to my ear.
Now, I’ll be honest and say, when I signed up for this review, I was doing it just to fulfill my daily dose of reading. I was expecting the book to be merely pleasant. When I began to read, I definitely wasn’t expecting any of it. Jamerlan has left me speechless, in a good way of course. Alani is a 27 year-old New Yorker who is two weeks away from getting marries. So, of course her friends throw her a bachelorette party, big shocker there. What I did find surprising, however, was the immediate connection she has with Ryan- ahem, he isn’t her future husband to be. But of course she can’t do anything about it because she’s engaged! I thought Alani was a very astute character. She knew what she wanted in the beginning, but of course with the drastic change her fiance made by calling off the wedding changed her in more ways than one.
I have to admit I was very intrigued by the story. Jamerlan has such a way with words, and she has the uncanny ability to capture a reader’s attention with just a few lines of writing. That being said, I have to admit Ryan was a little bland. I wasn’t too happy with him, only because he felt a little more like a one dimensional character. It felt like he was just in the story for Alani’s character development. Don’t get me wrong, I loved him because he was such a nice guy, and I feel if he were more than one dimensional, he would have overridden Alani’s character. The story took you through the twists and turns you would definitely not want to miss! I give this book 5 stars! Why? Because there’s nothing I would change if I had the chance to rewrite it. Every aspect worked for Jamerlan to come up with the surprise ending. But don’t take my word for it. Go ahead, buy a copy!

more she realizes she doesn’t like the answers. Can she set aside her own sense of
morals to belong to a pack that is like a family or will she leave everything behind yet again
in search of a life she can be proud of?

Matthew didn’t even bother to look in the direction I pointed. He didn’t seem interested at all.
“I’d rather stay here. I think you like me here too.” With his eyes intentionally locked on mine, he took a big gulp of his drink, and EVER so slowly, licked away some that escaped with a long, seductive stroke of his tongue. Watching him made me quiver…EVERYWHERE. My face became as hot as my drink, and naughty thoughts rushed through my mind…I wanted to be the cup he just licked. Managing to snap out of my fixed trance I said hastily, “Fine. Suit yourself. I’m not going to talk to you.” My eyes went straight to my laptop, but I was dying to ask him a question.
