Maxwell Knight was dangerously good-looking, seductively charming, and definitely trouble. He was everything Jeanella Mefferd did NOT need now.
Fresh out of college, life was predictable and comfortable for Jeanella. She had the strength of her friends, the security of her job, and she was dating a reliable man; it was all smooth sailing. That was until one night, when she met someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before—dangerous, heart pounding, breathless heat.
Never imagining she would see him again, Jeanella has no idea what to do when fate steps in and thrusts Maxwell Knight into her life, just as things were beginning to change around her. When she lands her dream job and travels to New York for Fashion Week, can she focus on her career instead of on Maxwell?
Will she ignore all the danger signs and jump straight into his arms; or would she miss out on the chance of finding something great?
Matthew didn’t even bother to look in the direction I pointed. He didn’t seem interested at all.
“I’d rather stay here. I think you like me here too.” With his eyes intentionally locked on mine, he took a big gulp of his drink, and EVER so slowly, licked away some that escaped with a long, seductive stroke of his tongue. Watching him made me quiver…EVERYWHERE. My face became as hot as my drink, and naughty thoughts rushed through my mind…I wanted to be the cup he just licked. Managing to snap out of my fixed trance I said hastily, “Fine. Suit yourself. I’m not going to talk to you.” My eyes went straight to my laptop, but I was dying to ask him a question.

“Fine. Bring me the damn suit,” I grumble begrudgingly.
“You’re the best! You know that?” Kara kisses me chastely. Her father is still there after all.
Bill laughs once Kara bolts up the stairs.
“Laugh now. Next thing you know she’ll make you be my elf!” I threaten good naturedly.
“I’d love to see that,” he says in between chuckles.
“Ah crap!” I pull my hands through my hair, seriously wanting to throw a child-sized temper tantrum at this turn of events.
“Think of it this way, son. It will be good practice for when you have kids. And you’re making those girls’ night.”
“Yeah… alright. I guess I can try to look on the bright side of things,” I concede. The last thing I need is for my soon to be father-in-law to think I’m a big baby.
Kara returns twenty minutes later with a giant red bag. I drag it into the bathroom and take my time changing. Part of me hopes that if I take too long the girls will fall asleep or something. Stranger things have happened.
“It’s Christmas Eve, Jacob. The girls won’t want to fall asleep regardless, so don’t think you can get out of this,” Kara calls through door.
How the hell does she do that? It’s worse than the eyes in the back of her head.
“I’ll be out in a minute,” I yell through the door.
After I velcro the giant pillow onto my belly, I turn to the side and stick my stomach out further, poking at my now enlarged gut. I roll my abdominal muscles making the pillow bounce and ripple. Chuckling at my nonsense, I step into the red, velvet pants. I pull the black suspenders over my shoulder and do a little jig watching as my stomach bounces around.
Apparently this suit sucks the seriousness out of you. Maybe it’s a magic suit…
I stop my musings and proceed to put the jacket on and button it up.
I look damn good in red. Even with a giant stomach.
Next comes the wig and beard, followed by the hat. Now I have absolutely no reason to walk out of this bathroom. Damn.
Opening the door, Kara is the first thing I see. Her face lights up and she graces me with a wide smile.
She lifts her arm, and then she does the unthinkable when she snaps a picture with her cell phone.
“Lump of coal for you!” I shout and make like I’m going to attack her. When I lunge for her, she screeches and runs across the room.
Once I catch up with her, she reaches out and rubs red shit on my cheeks. “Really?” I ask not wanting to deal with this shit.
“You are so going to get lucky later,” she mumbles so only I can hear her.
“Damn straight. You owe me one creative session, Sunshine.”
“There is this new position I heard about that I’ve been curious to try.”
“It’s a good thing this suit is big, otherwise my sister would think Santa was a giant perv. What do you think you’re doing telling me that now?” I gripe, knowing my nieces can’t sit on my lap while I’m turned on.
“Sorry. I forget,” she says like that explains it all.
“You’re lucky I love you.” I kiss her forehead and start towards the stairs. “Let’s get this over with.”

Yanking open the door, she had to look down to find Grant crouching at her feet, groping for the fallen keys.
“What’s your problem?” she hissed, trying not to disturb the neighbors.
It took him five seconds to look up at her with glassy eyes and a goofy grin. Clutching his keys, he woozily stood, swaying on his feet.
Her mouth popped open. “You’re drunk!”
“Hóla, Bonita.” His smile broadened.
So much for not waking the neighbors.
He fumbled for her hand and pressed her flush to his chest. “The door—” she cried, hearing it click shut and locked behind her.
“I have keys!” he proudly announced.
She rolled her eyes. “A lot of good they did you before.”
He nuzzled her nose, smiling dreamily, and she caught a whiff of Eau de Tequila. The low hallway light reflected in his dazzling eyes, which shone with mischief.
Her eyes narrowed. “Why were you drinking? I thought—”
He interrupted her with a scorching kiss, which made her bones wobble.
He followed his masterpiece by cupping her breasts in his hands. He skimmed his lips across her jaw, softly licking the skin near her ear. “You thought?” he prompted. He wasn’t slurring quite as badly as his first tequila bender.
“Hmmm…I thought…I thought…what was I thinking?”
He grabbed both her hands, and she found herself moving in step with him, ballroom dancing in the hallway. Naturally he started singing Sinatra in his deep baritone, crooning about the kick of champagne.
Feeling déjà vu from the bridge of the cruise ship, she closed her eyes and swayed along with him. Here we go again. She let him twirl her, and despite her consternation a giggle escaped.
He tucked her close, his hand resting on the small of her back, humming a tune about liquor not affecting him at all.
I beg to differ. “So who were you drinking with, naughty McSailor?”
“No one as sexy as you,” he cooed in her ear. The humming resumed, and his hand traveled south, caressing her bottom.
A zing of energy sparked from his touch, and she attempted to stay focused. “And what did she look like?”
Halting the two-step, he looked into her eyes, a smile floating across his flushed face. “Jealous, Bonnie?”
“You better not be doing body shots with anyone else.”
He seemed to find this amusing, snorting loudly. “I doubt my drinking buddies would let me get that close.”
They turned to their left when a neighbor’s door swung open, revealing a glaring woman with bed-head and an intricate neck tattoo peeking out from under her robe. “Could you take it inside?”
He maintained his jovial grin, letting go of her and approaching 7B. “Aw, don’t be mad, ma’am.” He kneeled and gently took the woman’s hand, then planted a kiss. “I do apologize—jusss having a good time out here on the dance floor.”
Sophie watched the woman teeter on the edge of fear and enthrallment, here in the hallway at 2 a.m.
“I’m sorry for all the noise,” Sophie said, stepping closer. “He had a bit too much to drink, and it’s time for me to put him to bed.”
“I like the sound of that,” Grant said, looking up at her but still holding the woman’s hand. “But I was jusss about to offer our lovely neighbor here a dance.”
The woman blushed. “Um, I have to go to work kind of early…”
“Mick,” Sophie hissed, tugging at his arm. “Time for bed, honey.”
Hearing his undercover name seemed to compel him to action. He stood, darted nervous glances down the hallway, then aimed a beseeching look at the woman. “I apologize, ma’am.”
Relieved he’d returned to his senses, she pulled him toward their door. “Sorry for waking you up!”
The woman watched her reach into his pocket for the keys. “Quite a charmer you got there.”
“Don’t I know it,” she said, smiling as she unlocked the door. She pushed the charmer into their apartment and watched him weave his way to the sofa. She supposed she should be angry at him for flirting with their neighbor, but she loved his completely carefree demeanor. It was so uncharacteristic.
What is your ideal woman like? She’s kind, smart, and capable. I have a thing for leggy blondes, I must admit.
What do you like the least about yourself? My Mafia family.
What are the three most important things in life to you? Sophie Taylor, my nephew Ben, and my uncle Joe
What music is on your playlist right now? Sinatra’s entire collection, Jack Johnson, Michael Bublé, and Coldplay.
What is your favorite curse/dirty word? My uncle Joe raised me not to use curse words, but I do like the creativity of “douche canoe”.
How do you seduce and/or excite a woman? I sing to her and give her a meaningful nickname.
- Where is the most interesting place you’ve ever made love? Hmm. *grins* It’s a tie between the backseat of Mr. Remington’s limo and the bridge of Mr. Eaton’s ship.

~DON’T LET GO~
Sadie Miller is attempting to change her ways and hide somewhere no one knows her former self. She only wants to finish her final year of college, obtain her degree, and get out from the hold of her affluent parents. Then she meets Brady Carsen, the lead singer of The Invisibles, a local band popular with the college crowd. She tries to stay away but quickly realizes that, although he might not be what she’s used to, he’s exactly what she needs and more importantly, everything she could possibly want.
Unfortunately, Sadie’s troubled past left her with insecurities that make her question Brady’s true intentions. And while Brady is convinced that Sadie is the one for him, he has his own secrets that he fears will be their undoing. If they want to be together, they will have to stand united and fight the outside influences that are threatening to tear them apart. Can they put their pasts behind them for good in order to secure their future?
In order for me to write a decent review on this book, I had to conform myself with the fact that it was a contemporary romance. It’s not really my cup of tea. There was ABSOLUTELY no need to prepare myself. Sadie Miller is a typical college student with a very dark past. Although I couldn’t really relate myself, her three dimensional characteristics were very well written. She was a “no f**king around” sort of girl and I loved it! She made a mistake in her past, and she knew exactly what she wanted: to NOT screw up again and live a decent life. Now Brady Carsen, can I just say he was a f**king hottie?! Sh*t! I had to keep my legs tightly closed just so I wouldn’t melt at the mentioning of his name. The fact that he could sing was merely a plus. Now, what I simply adore about Brady’s character is that he is a nice guy,- who simply LOOKS like a bad boy, mind you- but he’s not OVERLY nice. You know what I mean? I mean the kind of nice where it just seems corny and unrealistic. NOPE! Carsen is definitely not that type. He’s a very laid-back character who just seems to take his time and enjoy life. Although he’s a musician, that’s not his goal. He loves music, but he’s a student ant the university as well, and values his education. THAT MAKES HIM A BAJILLION TIMES HOTTER! A man who knows EXACTLY what the hell he wants! It also helps that he’s got that bad boy kind of look. Not to mention, he’s got his own baggage to handle as well, so he’s definitely NOT a bland character.
Through all the twists and turns of this book, I was definitely kept on my toes, trying to figure out what would happen next. Who was that mysterious Vodka Vince? What did he have to do with anything? Who was the older woman Sadie spotted talking to Carsen? And who the f**k is that annoying twit always clinging onto Carsen’s arm?! Overall, such a great read, and DEFINITELY better than a lot of other contemporary writers I have read before. FIVE FRIGGIN’ STARS! Because I can, and because Carsen is an “Oh-my-Lord-f**k-me-even-though-you’re-not-real” sort of character. Oh! And it was just a plus that there weren’t many grammar mistakes. HEHE!
