Liam and Allison turn to head towards the house. I know that I should
follow them, but damn it I’m holding her and I don’t want to let go. She stands
still in my arms not trying to break our connection. My right arm is still draped
across her waist holding her tight against my chest. I gently grip her left hip and
turn her to face me. She’s staring straight at my chest, not meeting my eyes. I
gently lift her chin with my index finger. Fuck she is so beautiful. What if
something would have happened to her today? I can feel the anger trying to
resurface. I take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Hailey is silently watching me
now. I lean down and rest my forehead against hers and close my eyes. Both of
my hands find her hips. I’m going to take every advantage to touch her that I can.
“I was worried about you, angel.” I tell her honestly. Well as honest as I can
“Aiden, we were fine. Those guys were just being friendly.”
“You don’t know them. Hell, they could have taken you both and did god
only knows what to you.” I swallow back the emotion of just the thought of her
“I’m not yours to worry about.” She whispers.
And there it is the knife that is twisting in my chest. She’s right, I know it
and she knows it, but fuck if I like it.
I pull back and bring both of my hands to her cheeks. “Angel, I care about
you. You may not be mine, but I will never let anything happen to you. Do you
understand that?” I ask her. I really need her to know how special she is.
“One big brother is enough, Aiden. You don’t have to feel obligated to
“Who said I wanted to be your big brother?” I ask trying to keep my voice
calm. This is truly a daunting feat with all of the rage boiling inside me. She
thinks I want to be her big brother? Fuck that!
“Don’t you? Why else would you go all alpha Aiden and try to keep me
from them?” she asks me.
I watch her closely as she waits for my answer. This beautiful girl has no
idea the war I have fought these past few months. She has no idea how she affects
me, how much I want her. This is killing me. Wanting something this much,
something that I can’t have. She licks her lips and now all I can think about is
tasting her. I don’t even realize that I’m going to do it until our lips meet and I’m
consumed with her sweetness. Lips of an angel, I tell you.
I move one hand behind her neck and the other is holding her cheek. I angle
her head back and deepen the kiss. Hailey opens her mouth and I take full
advantage to slide my tongue in and hers immediately duals with mine. She
moans and my desire is fueled. I can’t get her close enough, can’t get enough
period. Hailey slows the kiss and pulls her lips from mine. I tug her into a tight
“I need for you to always be safe. Not because I feel like your older brother,
but because you are important to me. I couldn’t handle it if something happened to
I feel her nod against my chest. “Let’s go, they’re going to wonder where
we are.” I whisper in her ear.
She slowly pulls away from me. “Thank you, Aiden.” With that she turns
and heads back to the beach house.
I stand there and watch my heart walk away from me. I place my hand over
my heart and rub the ache that is throbbing in my chest. No girl will ever mean to
me what Hailey MacCoy does.

Mackenzie Duncan found out that pack life wasn’t for her. Now she is running for the
second time in the six months since she was bitten and turned into a Werewolf. But this
time, she isn’t alone. This time, she has Geoff and Liam with her, two very hot
Werewolves vying for her heart.
But her companions aren’t her focus. The only thing she can focus on is getting far from
her old pack and their murderous ways. Only, she doesn’t just want to run. She wants to
warn every pack she can that their lives are in danger too. No one should be turned
against their will like she was and no other pack should have to surrender to the ideas of a
centuries old, power hungry woman.
Not only does Mackenzie have to deal with her crazy expack leader sending people out to
kill her, she has to keep both men at arm’s length (and that proves to be much more
difficult than she thought), but she finds out more about her own life and heritage than she
ever thought imaginable.
And suddenly, everything makes sense…

The Mythology department at prestigious Harvard University is tiny—and Mackenzie
Duncan has just been selected as one of the lucky few. Her love for myths and legends is
strong, but she never thought any of it could be real.
After being attacked by a large wolf while walking home alone, Mackenzie realizes
something is not right. She heals quickly, is suddenly super strong, and is experiencing
mood swings that can’t possibly be normal. The myths she’s studying aren’t myths at all.
Werewolves are real and she’s one of them. Fear of what she is, and who she might hurt
sends Mackenzie running from the life she’s worked hard to build–and straight into the
arms of a handsome Were named Geoff and into the home of his pack. Living with her
new pack takes the edge off her confusion and selfloathing, but the arrival of new pack
members changes the dynamic, and tests Geoff and Mackenzie’s growing relationship.
The hardest part of being a werewolf is having no control and no memory of her time as a
blood thirsty beast. When a moon cycle passes and she actually remembers bits and
pieces of the night, she starts to ask questions, and the more questions she asks, the
more she realizes she doesn’t like the answers. Can she set aside her own sense of
morals to belong to a pack that is like a family or will she leave everything behind yet again
in search of a life she can be proud of?
Growing up, Adrianne couldn’t get her hands on enough books to satisfy her need for the
make believe. If she finished a novel and didn’t have a new one ready and waiting for her,
she began to create her own tales of magic and wonder. Now, as an adult, books still
make up majority of her free time, and now her tales get written down to be shared with
During the day, Adrianne uses her camera to capture life’s stories for clients of all ages
and at night, after her two children are tucked in bed; she devotes herself to her written
work. Adrianne is living the life she always wanted, surrounded by art and beauty, the
written word and a loving family.
As a young adult and new adult author, Adrianne James has plans to bring stories of
growing characters, a little romance, and perhaps a little magic and mythology down the
line for her readers to enjoy.
Title: In the Middle of Nowhere
Author: Julie Ann Knudsen
Genre: Contemporary YA
Publication Date: April 2012
Event organized by: Into the Night Reviews
A teenage girl. A broken heart. And a boy who tries to mend it.
Butterflies. Little, fluttering butterflies. That’s what fifteen-year-old Willow Flynn feels in
the pit of her stomach every time the mysterious boy is near. But Willow has other things
to contend with as she deals with the tragic loss of her father, as well as her emotionally
preoccupied mother, while being uprooted to a new house, a new school, a new life, far
away, on an island, in the middle of nowhere.
At the beginning of the school year, the sickly, but cute Michael sends Willow the first
of many cryptic notes during homeroom. He stares at Willow and gives her the creeps.
Michael never returns to school after that, but Willow ends up connecting with the poetic
boy on-line where they strike up an unusual friendship.
As Willow attempts to fit in and find her niche in the ever-cliquey high school world, she is
further confused by Michael who strives to win her over and mend her broken heart. But
will he be able to, especially when his own existence remains so uncertain?

In the Middle of Nowhere was a heartwarming tale of a teenage girl who goes through a series of unfortunate events and has no choice but to grow up. Willow is 15 years old and loses her father. It’s after her father’s death that she and her family relocate to an island off the coast of Maine. There were many points in the story when I found myself connecting with Willow. She is such a personable character with a strong mindset. Michael comes into the picture and helps Willow through the most difficult at times. Being the new kid in town is difficult for Willow, since she is yearning for acceptance from her very peers. After falling in the wrong hands and hanging with the wrong crowd, Willow finds herself in the care of Michael.
I thought Michael’s and Willow’s relationship did wonders for her character. There was so much development throughout the course of the book. If there’s one thing Knudsen did right, it had to be letting Willow learn to accept herself the way she was and embrace the life she had. Michael helped her with that improvement, which enables the reader to truly see the transformation that takes place in Willow. I thought this story was well-written. Knudsen has such a poetic tone to her writing that makes for good storytelling. She grasps you into the story from the first few pages of her book, and keeps you wanting to learn more about the characters. There’s a bond you create with the characters that grows as the story unfolds. All in all, I asked and Knudsen provided! 5 out of 5 STARS! Thank you for an enjoyable read!
