***Home Sweet Home by Scarlett Metal***
Genre: Erotic Romance, Novella
Release Date: July 31, 2013; 2nd Installment to I Remember You
Hosted By: Love Between The Sheets
Things for Lance and Samantha have been picture perfect since they reunited four years ago. They are happily married with a little girl and another baby on the way. Lance’s career with the Forbidden Gods is stronger than ever. Samantha has some best selling books to her name and her writing career is taking off.
In just a few short months, that perfect world starts to shatter. Lance has to go on tour without Sam. He has creative differences with management over the band’s latest album that have left him frustrated. He suffers loss after loss, not knowing if he can take much more. He turns to alcohol to numb the pain just like he did all those years ago when Sam left him.
Sam tries to be strong for her family when tragedy threatens to pull them apart but when Lance isn’t there for her when she needs him the most, she questions everything she ever believed about them and their love.
Lance is lost and hanging by a thread. Can Sam save him? Or is it too late? Will Lance be able to find his way back home?
Home is where the heart it…. Home Sweet Home def. sums that one phrase up. After reading I Remember You, I felt that Home Sweet Home had some large shoes to fill. Home Sweet Home, I must say has filled those shoes ten fold! While I liked I Remember You, Home Sweet Home is the best of the two.
I loved the initial love story of Sam and Lance, Home Sweet Home had deeper issues that the couple needed to face together. In I Remember You, Sam and Lance lose one another for ten years, but yet find themselves together at the end, Home Sweet Home truly challenges their love, marriage, and sanity, esp. Lance. SPOILER SPOILER - His mother is diagnosed with Cancer, he faces losing the band if he doesn’t meet the demands of management, he misses his two girls, and he turns to alcohol. Not to mention an unfortunate encounter with the hag who tore him and Sam apart to begin with all those years ago.
It was nice to read a love story that’s perfectly imperfect with real life drama that’s not over the top dramatic. Although Lance is a rock star now and living a dream he’d always wanted, I’m glad that at the end he decides not to do anymore tours after his stint in rehab. I understand that people are driven by their dreams and career goals, however, there are bigger things or people in life that hold a priority over those goals/dreams at times. Lance realized what was really important in life…his family. He realized that his path of self-destruction almost tore his family…his life….apart.
This is a lesson that we as humans often overlook when we’re so driven for success…that the most important things/people in life are right there in front of us. Home Sweet Home reminded me personally that home truly is where the heart is and with that knowledge, life is too short to live too far away from those that matter. It also woke me up to the realization that appreciating who and what you have in life is important and that you should be thankful for these blessings.
I don’t usually like novellas because they are often rushed or too short, but Home Sweet Home wasn’t any of those. I believe that it was an appropriate length for the story. Easy read…great plot…great ending to a love story! Kudos Scarlett!! Looking forward to her other books.
MEET SCARLETT – BIO & INTERVIEW
SM: Dirty, sexy, real
What inspired you to write such a book?
SM: I had an old high school boyfriend that used to say he was going to become a rock star and come back for me one day. I guess that sort of spurred this idea.
Did the characters or the plot come first?
Any other genre you’d like to try?
SM: I’m actually working on something with a friend who is a horror writer.
If I weren’t an author I’d be….
SM: A publicist.
What’s next for you?
SM: I have a novel coming out called “Mine” that is a sequel to “Naughty Girl” and then “Here With Me”, the sequel to “Finally”.
Any advice for new authors?
SM: Just keep writing and don’t read reviews.
Scarlett lives in the Midwest with her family. When she’s not busy writing steamy stories, she can be found with her nose in a book, camping, or geocaching with her family. She loves Diet Coke, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and 80′s hair bands.
