The Mind Readers Series By Lori Brighton
Feeling depressed because I could have sworn I epic failed on a mid-term paper (which I didn’t by the way…yay me) I stumbled upon the first book in the series, The Mind Readers. I had no particular type of book in mind for reading on my book list…except that it met one tiny piece of criteria…ummm that it was FREE of course! Hahaha! Hey some of the best authors found today start off with offering free books right! Lord behold, I fell in love with the series and the writer (whose other books I will be blogging about soon too).
What caught my attention, aside from the amazeball price (or lack of hehehe), was the opening sentence of the book description “Cameron Winters is a freak.” Whose attention wouldn’t be caught at that point right? If Lori was going for a “hook line and sinker” kind of description…ummmm A+ to her because it reeled me in! Kudos Lori!
The story centers on Cameron Winters and her phenomenal ability to read the minds of others. She has always felt as if she were alone in this world with an ability that she condoned as a curse since this ability has been at the center of the demise of her family. She has never been able to fully embrace her mind reading ability for various reasons (you’ll have to read the book to find out why). Just when she finally has a handle on her life and accepting her fate…as a freak…Lewis smoothly makes his way into her life causing Cameron to question everything that she knows about her life to shift! Not only does she find out she’s not alone with her mind reading abilities, but that she’s a large pawn in an underlying raging war with key players that are closest to her.
She will face lies, deceit, and heartbreak…along with many other obstacles in the series. I can guarantee you though…by the end of the first book…you’ll be wanting more! There are many twists to the series that you won’t see coming until they’ve happened and at that point you’ll still be asking yourself “why didn’t I see that coming?”
I’m not about giving anything away, but…lets just say that although this book is Rated 14 years and over, Lori gets kinda “mild steamy <<<< No such word but I’m using it anyway hehehe” in the next books of the series!
There are many lessons learned and messages to gain from the series. But the greatest message learned from this series is….YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE SO BE PROUD! You’re different, so what? Most of my friends and family look at me and think I’m crazy for reading YA books! But I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t read what made me happy! This series screams “I’m Lori Brighton and I’m here! Boom!”
